The introduction of high speed laser printers reflects the users' requirements for on time reporting of large volumes of up to the minute information. When channel attached, these laser printers are capable of producing hundreds of pages of print per minute.

Many regional data processing facilities act primarily as print centers, providing multiple locations with support services such as preparing customer invoices, statements, reports, or microfiche copies. Without modifications to the CPU hardware or operating system, MGT's PIXNET-XL products can provide the same performance levels for these printers plus the added benefit of locating them where they are most beneficial to the user - in his or her location. The performance of PIXNET-XL is not impacted by distance or communications media. The printers can be supported using copper or fiber in a campus environment or across the globe using satellite or Telco facilities. Because of our sophisticated software, all of this can be accomplished while utilizing a minimum amount of communications bandwidth (see diagram which follows).

PIXNET-XL networking software allows the switching or sharing of these high speed devices between applications and CPUs providing a cost-effective method of pooling peripherals (see diagram which follows).
